Wooden Winter Woodland Animals

Wooden Winter Woodland Animals

Well here we are in January and Ralph and I would like to wish you a cosy and happy New Year and thank you for being here as we enter 2026.

I had quite a difficult December, personally, so in many ways I am glad Christmas has come and gone - and I never thought I'd find myself saying this but I think I might even be happy it is January!

I am planning to take the month to rest a bit and enjoy the slower pace (aka almost no sales) but instead of just hunkering down and waiting for warmer weather to come, I thought we might celebrate January with a look at some wooden woodland animals. There is something about these little creatures that seem to suit the cold January days... I am picturing badgers curled up in their setts, birds flitting around the bare woodland branches, squirrels digging up their nuts...

And so I am creating a new series of daily posts to celebrate the gorgeous Ostheimer wooden animals I welcomed into Cottontails in November - I am so happy and proud to stock these lovely toys. The plan is I will share a different animal every day - thus showcasing the collection and also giving me a bit of structure and motivation throughout the month. (I found it SO helpful to be posting the Advent Bunnies every day during December - even in the midst of some difficult days those Advent Bunnies certainly kept me present and grounded).

So follow along on our socials  during January and enjoy a new wooden woodland animal every day....
